An inhaler (1) for powdered medicament, in which the medicament can be received by a patient by means of an air stream, which inhaler comprises a receptacle for a pharmaceutical powder cartridge (100) for holding a depot of medicament for a large number of doses of pharmaceutical powder within a reservoir apace (101) and having a integrated metering device (107, 123) which comprises at lest one metering cavity (124) for holding a predetermined quantity of a pharmaceutical powder, wherein the integrated metering device (107, 123) comprises a metering slide (123) which can be moved at least out of a filing position into a emptying position approximately transversely with respect to the flow direction of the pharmaceutical powder into said metering cavity (124), and said metering slide (123) is arranged below said reservoir space (101) for storing the pharmaceutical powder when the cartridge (100) is oriented in a way allowing maid pharmaceutical powder to flow from said reservoir space (101) into said metering cavity (124) of maid metering slide (123) by gravity force.
