The spinning or twisting ring 1 has an uncoated core 20 consisting of iron materials. The core 20 forms, inter alia, a head-side flange 5 which is subjected to particularly high mechanical and thermal load during operation. A covering layer 25 according to the invention is therefore arranged at least partially on the core 20. The covering layer 25 in this case improves both the corrosion protection and the spinning behavior of the spinning or twisting ring 1, this ultimately also having a positive effect on efficiency.
