The present invention relates to a method of treating a metastatic prostate cancer patient by administering to said patient an effective amount of a bicalutamide (4'-cyano-a',a',a'-trifluoro-3-(4-fluorophenylsulphonyl)-2-hydroxy-2-methylpropiono-m-toluidide) containing formulation capable of delivering at least a mean steady state plasma level of (R)-bicalutamide enantiomer of 40 ug/ml; and to bicalutamide containing products and formulations capable of delivering the at least mean steady state plasma level of (R)-bicalutamide enantiomer of 40 ug/ml to a patient in need thereof.
