Treatment of constipation is usually done by administering laxative materials like Isabgol or senna, the former being of a mild nature and latter bringing about a drastic evacuation by forcing bowel movement. Use of higher saturated alkanes such as liquid paraffin, saturated alcohols and oils are also known to be adopted for relieving constipation and all these are temporary measures, effective only for a limited period of time.
