USE OF AMINO-OXY FUNCTIONAL GROUPS IN THE PREPARATION OF VACCINES.

Application 2317/KOLNP/2006 published 2007-05-25, filed 2006-08-16
The invention relates to a process for preparing a conjugate comprising combining an amino-oxy homofunctional or heterofunctional regent with an entity chosen form polysaccharides, oligosaccharides, carbohydrates, and carbohydrate-containing molecules containing at lest one carbonyl group, to form a polysaccharide, oligosaccharide, carbohydrate, or carbohydrate-containing mole functionalized via at least one oxime linkage. The functionalized compound is then reacted either directly or indirectly with a protein moiety to form a protein-carbohydrate conjugate that may be used as a vaccine.
