A flood and drain watering method for watering potted plants includes introducing water into a bottom space (22) of a flower pot (10) through a tube (24) extending upwardly from the bottom space (22) and out of the open top (12) of the flower pot (10) until a top portion of soil (20) in the flower pot (10) is flooded with water, and then removing all or part of the brown water which is not absorbed by the soil (20) in the flower pot (10) and is collected in the bottom space (22). With such a flood and drain watering method, the soil (20) in the flower pot (10) is completely saturated with water but there is no excess brown water remaining in the soil (20) to damage the plant roots.
