A method of predicting the compatibility of combustion of coal for predicting the compatibility of combustion of coal when the coal is burned in a stoker boiler with a fire grate, comprising the step of obtaining the amount of combustion of coal per unit area of the fire grate in the stoker boiler from the characteristic and property values of the ash content (A), total moisture content (M), and volatile matter content (VM) of the coal by using an expression W = K x F/(1 - A - M)/(1 - VM), where K is the operation factor of boiler and F is the coefficient of carbon burn-up, wherein the compatibility of combustion in the stoker boiler is predicted based on the amount of combustion of the coal.
