A process for the preparation of 6- .-naphthylvinyl)-1,2,4-trioxanes useful as antimalarial by reacting acetonaphthones with triethylphosphonoacetates in presence of a base in an aprotic solvent in the temperature range of 0oC WRURRPWHPSHUDWXUHRIJLYH.-XQVDWXUDWHGHVWHUVUHGXFWLRQRI.-unsaturated esters with reducing agent selected from LiAIH4 in an ether solvent in the temperature range of 0oC to room temperature to give allylic alcohols, oxygenation of the allylic alcohols in presence of sensetizer in an organic solvent in the temperature range of –8oC to room temperature to give -hydroxyhydroperoxides, isolating and reacting in situ these hydroperoxides with compounds containing carbonyl group in presence of an acid catalyst in an aprotic organic solvent such as herein described in temperature range of 5oC to 30oC, isolating and purifying the products by conventional methods.
