New benzimidazole derivatives of formula: N N N Mc OR1 MC R2 In which R1 is H r a short chain hydrocarbon group such as methyl, ethyl, isopropyl, cyclopropyl, vinyl, etc., and R2 is a group selected from among the following: CH2OH, COOH, COOR1 and 4,4-dimethyl-2-oxaxolinyl, R3 being a short chain alkyl group such as methyl, ethyl, etc., are described. A description is also made of the preparation of these compounds, which have a high H1 antihistaminic and antiallergic activity and are devoid of effects on the central nervous and cardiovascular systems.
