The invention relates to a method for improving the picture reproduction of a television set (4) by adjusting the video frequency response of an automatic phase-locked loop tuner by means of frequency tuning, the method comprising the steps of, during television set (4) production, the video frequency response is measured for each channel of a television set (4) by using test signals fed into the antenna input of the television set (4), and in case of a deviation from a predeterminable reference value, a video frequency response correction is carried out by means of a frequency detuning of the respective channel, and then a new frequency data for a respective channel is stored by adding a corresponding correction value to the frequency data of this channel in the television set (4).
