This invention relates to a wind power installation with automatic switch off and switch on means based on the predetermined positions of the sun and light intensity. It consists of a conventional wind power generation installation provided with a programmable data processing apparatus, an input display means, a shadow shut down mode displaying current intensity, the value of shadow shut down intensity alterable by suitable inputs, means for switching off and switching on the rotation of the wind mill when the level of light intensity exceeds a predetermined value and means for restarting the installation when the light intensity is below the shut down level.
