This invention relates to a clutch driven disc assembly (10) comprises a hub (14) and the annular spring plate (20) fixed to the hub (14). A friction disc assembly (16) is mounted concentric with an axis of rotation (12) of the hub (14) and is rotatably relative to the springs plate (20). A plurality of drive springs (16) are operably disposed between die spring plate (20) and flu friction disc assembly (16). The friction disc assembly (16) hither includes a reinforcing plate (24) and a substantially annular disc (22) fixed to the reinforcing plate (24). A friction material button (30) is fixed to the annular disc (22). Friction material button (30) has a metallic friction material cookie (32) with atleast due. apertures (36). A backer plate (34) is fixed to the friction material (32). Atleast three spot welds (38) are within three corresponding apertures (36) in the cookie (32) At least one of flu welds (38) are offset from a line joining two others of flu welds (38).The welds (38) Join the substantially annular disc (22) and die backer plate (34), in turn fixing the friction material button (30) to the substantially annular disc (22).
